Ford’s LTD designation is considered by some an abbreviation of "Luxury Trim Decor" and by others as a limited body style classification for the Galaxie. The original "Car Life" magazine review, at the time the first LTD was released, suggests that it stood for nothing and was just three meaningless letters. In any case, it was indeed Ford’s top-shelf offering on the Galaxie platform and offered great luxury and performance for less coin than a Lincoln. As such, this sedan runs a big 390- cid V-8 rated at 270 horsepower along with an automatic transmission. The bench seat interior is covered with velvety-soft red upholstery that reflects the remarkable care and upkeep this 47-year old Ford has experienced. Perfect for pulling a vintage camper, it will have power to spare on the next road trip.
