Barney Oldfield is probably the most well known early American Racing Driver. Always a showman with his short cigar gripped tighly in the corner of his mouth. He raced the Dirt Tracks Nationwide from 1902 until the mid 1920's when he retired from driving and became a promoter of racing events.
