Mercury produced only 8,305 examples of four door sedans in this model. The two-tone Sunset Orchid and Tuxedo Black Turnpike Cruiser is powered by a 368-cid, 290-hp V-8 engine that is mated to a pushbutton Merc-O-Matic transmission. The car has a 600-cfm Edelbrock carburetor, Crower cams and dual glasspack exhaust. The Mercury Turnpike Cruiser was the flagship model of the Mercury Division of the Ford Motor Company that was produced from 1957 to 1958. They are best known for the unique styling cues and wide range of devices including a "Breezeway" power rear window that could be lowered to improve ventilation, "twin jet" air intakes at upper corners of the windshield, automatically adjusting seat and an average speed computer. Nearly $5,000 worth of mechanical work has been executed on this car within the last year and a half.
