The 1946 Hudson pickup was powered by the Hudson long-stroke side-valve “Super Six” engine that featured a chrome alloy cylinder block. With a displacement of 212 cubic inches, it developed 102 horsepower. Its three-speed manual transmission was column-shifted when other trucks still used a floor-shift. Naturally, it had Hudson’s famous cork-insert, oil-immersed clutch, and overdrive was available, unusual for a pickup. The Hudson pickup was fitted with a cavernous cargo box, providing 48 cubic feet of cargo volume. Of the 95,000 vehicles that Hudson manufactured in 1946, only about three-percent were pickup trucks. Priced new at $1,522, only 3,374 were made.

This example is beautifully finished, having been subjected to a cosmetic restoration that saw it finished in Black over Pine Green, and a natural wood finish in the truck bed. The Pine Green steel wheels are brightened by chrome beauty rings, which shine just as nicely as the rest of the chrome. The engine bay appears to have correct colors as well and shows signs of use since completion of the restoration. The colors on this truck really pop and close attention should be paid to the interior with its burgundy upholstery, red steering wheel and body-color dash. The Hudson became extinct less than a decade after this truck was produced; rarely seen it is an example not to be missed.
