247-cc, 13.6-hp two-stoke single-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel coil spring independent suspension, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Wheelbase: 71-inches

The Goggomobil was built by Hans Glas, GmbH, at Dingolfing, Germany. Originally a manufacturer of agricultural machinery, Glas began building the Goggo, a motor scooter, in 1951. From 1955, a small sedan called “Goggomobil” was offered, a four-passenger, two-door car with a 15-hp two-stroke 247-cc engine in the rear. A coupe model with a more streamlined roof line was also available. Suspension was independent all around, with coil springs and swing axles. Almost 220,000 sedans and more than 66,000 coupes were built through 1969, although few found their way to the United States.

This pretty Goggomobil Coupe presents very well in white over green. The bumpers are excellent. The vinyl seats are done in red with white piping, in excellent condition and nicely set off by red carpet on the floor. The rear engine compartment is clean, while the undercarriage is coated with black undercoating.

Accessories include a driver’s “wing mirror” and directional signals. The luggage rack on the engine lid sports a wicker picnic hamper, suggesting the next road trip: “Let’s have lunch in the country…”
