As if the standard Viper wasn’t aggressive enough, Dodge introduced the track-ready ACR at SEMA in 2014. The car’s 8.4-litre V-10 engine, capable of producing 645 bhp and 813 nm of torque, remained unchanged, but a number of other significant changes were made to further enhance its performance. For the first time with the Viper, the car was fitted with carbon ceramic brake discs and calipers, specifically built for the Viper by Brembo. Handling was further improved with an adjustable suspension manufacturers by Bilstein and a set of bespoke tyres produced by Kumho specifically for the ACR.

The following year, Dodge sought to further the customization options for their flagship product and introduced the ‘1 of 1’ program, allowing customers to specify an amazing array of paint and interior colours for their new Vipers. Similar to programs offered by European manufacturers like Porsche and Ferrari, Dodge offered a mesmerizing 8,000 exterior colours, 24,000 custom stripe colours, 10 wheel options, 16 interior trims and six aerodynamic packages. With such a vast array of configurations, this virtually ensured that no Viper to leave the Conner Avenue factory in Detroit would be alike.

The first owner of this Viper ACR took advantage of the amazing wealth of configuration possibilities that Dodge made available, and created a truly spectacular car. The Metallic Forest Green paint with subtle custom racing stripes and ‘Brass Monkey’ wheels add a touch of sophistication to an otherwise meaning automobile. Inside, the Sepia Brown premium leather seats mated with carbon fibre trim make the interior a truly lovely place to be. Options include the carbon fibre exterior accents package, full nappa leather seat upgrade, custom exterior paint and paint stripe, lightweight battery, carbon ceramic brakes, a Harman Kardon sound system, and the carbon fibre structural x-brace in the engine bay amongst other options.

Importantly, this car is equipped with the Extreme Aero Package, arguably the most desirable option for a Viper ACR. This added an adjustable rear wing, front dive planes, a number of removable parts, including removable hood louvres, brake ducts, and diffuser strakes. This helps the car produce an incredible 799.5 kg of downforce at top speed, the most downforce of any production car at the time.

Built to Canadian-market specifications, this Viper ACR was delivered new to its first owner in British Columbia before being exported to Europe, and it currently resides in Germany. Today, it presents in excellent condition throughout, having been driven less than 6,600 km from new.

With infinitely more road presence than the Corvette ZR1 or a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the Viper ACR was undoubtedly the ultimate American performance car during its production run. With many manufacturers looking towards electrification for their next generation of performance cars, it is unlikely a car like the Viper ACR will ever be produced again. As such, this tastefully specified example would make a striking addition to any collection.
