US Title
  • Rare targa-top variant of the sleek Morgan Aero 8; one of very few in the United States
  • Presented in virtually as-new condition, and driven fewer than 865 mi at time of cataloguing
  • Hand-crafted in England, with dramatic styling blending past and present
  • 362 hp, 361 lb-ft 4.8-liter BMW V-8 engine; six-speed automatic transmission
  • Striking colors; Yarwood Siren Blue over a Blue and Romeo Red leather interior with factory chrome wheels
  • Weighs just 2,524 lbs thanks to its hand-made aluminum skin and chassis

It may look vintage with its chromed radiator grille and separate fender wings, but there is nothing remotely old-fashioned about the engineering of the Morgan Aero SuperSports—or the way it performs. Introduced for Morgan’s centenary in 2010, the Aero SuperSports was a targa top-equipped evolution of the revolutionary Morgan Aero 8. The first all-new Morgan to come out of Pickersleigh Road since the +4+ in 1964, the 2001 Aero 8 was earth-shattering to the Morgan faithful; with an all-aluminum chassis—a Morgan first—and a BMW-sourced V-8, Morgan hoped that the Aero 8 would keep the traditional company relevant in the 21st century.

Yet even the Aero SuperSports’ 1930s-style skin is anything but traditional. Crafted in aluminum, using a cutting-edge “Superform,” process, the body incorporates twin removable roof panels that can be stowed in the boot. Beneath is a bonded and riveted aluminum chassis which is both light and stiff, to the benefit of both ride and handling. All told, the Morgan weighs just 2,524 pounds!

This 2010 Morgan Aero SuperSports, regally and uniquely finished in Yarwood Siren Blue, features a beautifully appointed interior trimmed in Blue and Romeo Red-accented leather and complemented by rich rosewood veneers. Factory chromed wheels add the finishing touch to the car’s distinctive exterior appearance. Sparingly driven and, according to the consignor, always carefully garage-kept, this spectacular Morgan presents in virtually as-new condition both inside and out.

Step in and twist the key, and you will be left with no doubt about the car's potential: The 4.8-liter V-8 burbles menacingly through the side-exit exhaust pipes that end just a few inches behind your ears. Mildly modified by Morgan and here mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, this BMW-sourced engine delivers 362 brake horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque, providing the Super Sport with near-supercar standards of performance. It can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and tops out at 170 mph.

And it does so in unrivalled style. After a 2011 test, Car & Driver compared the SuperSports to the boattailed Morgan AeroMax, noting that “…the SuperSports is a pure eye magnet. You could park it next to anything this side of a gold-plated Veyron and be confident it would win the majority of attention.”

Showing just under 865 actual miles at the time of cataloguing, this Aero SuperSports offers ample justification for that claim. With a stated production run of only 200, very few of these hand-crafted cars have been registered in the United States—making this exclusive sports car exceedingly uncommon on these shores. This example presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of these very special cars in excellent, scarcely used condition.
