Amongst the Very Finest 300 SL Alloy Gullwings in Existence

The lighter weight, spritelier Gullwing proves provenance in looks and its powerhouse.

Voted by automotive journalists as the Sports Car of the 20th Century, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing continues to remain timeless in its sleek beauty and incredible drivability. Just shy of 1400 of these cars were produced between 1954 and 1957, with an even more limited number—29 to be exact—to have been built with this lightweight Alloy bodywork. Its beauty goes beyond skin deep though, as this Alloy Gullwing was also fitted with the 3.0-liter NSL engine with supporting, sportier suspension and other special detailed accoutrements. Thought to be in the top 10-20% of remaining Alloy Gullwing examples, this 1955 example is beyond a spectacular car, but a piece of engineering art, still absolutely apt at providing smiles on the road, as you can see and hear for yourself.
