Alfonso de Portago’s Legendary Formula 1 Ferrari

Back to the Track in a 1954 Ferrari 625 F1 that was Raced by One of the Great Names in Motorsport

In 1955, the great playboy Alfonso de Portago bought and raced a 1954 Ferrari 625 F1. He campaigned the car in four rounds of the 1955 Formula 1 season, and it would remain the only Ferrari monoposto he would ever race. One of just five “starlet” cars built for privateer use, this incredible 2.5-litre, four-cylinder racer is a true Maranello legend that laid the ground for every Formula 1 Ferrari that would come, while its characterful engine lived on the 500 Mondial and 750 Monzo sports racers. Join us as we take this significant piece of Ferrari’s heritage where it belongs—back to the track.
