London, England (19 June 2021) – RM Sotheby’s is thrilled to release the complete digital catalogue for its offering of a single-owner collection of fine Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. The auction is set for 19 June in Eschen, Liechtenstein. The collection features 26 lots with cars sourced from some of the world’s finest collections over decades.

Auction Highlights

One of the stars of the collection is undoubtedly the 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Special Brougham by Brewster as it is among the most beautiful and historically significant Phantom II models ever built. Impressively, at the time of manufacture, it was the most expensive automobile in the world and today continues to exude the elegance, grace and luxury that it did nearly 100 years ago. (Estimate: CHF1,300,000 – CHF1,750,000)

A second significant highlight of the auction is the 1958 Bentley S1 Continental Drophead Coupe by Park Ward. Finished in its original color scheme, it is widely considered to be one of the most desirable postwar Bentleys ever built highlighted by its stunning coachwork. The S1 Continental, with Park Ward body style number 700, commonly known as the S1 Continental was renowned as the “gentleman’s express” given its well controlled ride, ample power and luxurious appointments. (Estimate: CHF900,000 – CHF1,200,000)

Featuring seven Bentleys and eighteen Rolls Royces, and ranging in age from 1920 to 2008, the collection is one of the most complete of its type anywhere in the world, with each car presented in outstanding condition. For enthusiasts of the finest luxury, British cars, the Passion for Elegance sale is not to be missed. With most lots offered without reserve, the sale offers a rare opportunity to collectors.

What Makes a Collection Complete?

Gord Duff, Global Head of Auctions states: “The collection achieved completion with focus, restraint, and connoisseurship. This is unquestionably, a ‘complete’ collection of Rolls-Royce Phantoms that expands to include representatives from the marque’s longtime sister company, Bentley.

The collection was deemed ‘complete’ by its owner when it reached its present size, which resulted in a particularly well-balanced stable. A stable broad enough to cover two British marques in some of their most important eras yet, intimate enough to ensure each car was driven and enjoyed.

Passion for these automobiles was sparked from behind the wheel which created the determination to assure the cars saw use. The dedication to keeping each example in registered, operational condition has undoubtedly ensured their preservation for generations to come. The story of the collection itself is nearing completion and these distinguished Rolls-Royces and Bentleys are ready to begin their next chapter.”
