Director of Finance

Job Title: Director of Finance
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Job Type: Full-time

Position Summary

In this dynamic role, the Director of Finance will primarily be responsible for budgets and reporting, working in concert with departmental managers to collect information and build various financial tools, as well as supporting the Accounting department as a whole in their daily activities as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and adept at working well with a team in a busy office. This position will be located at our head offices in Blenheim, Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership over the Accounting/Finance Departments
  • Manage organization cash flow and forecasting
  • Prepare, Analyze and Present Monthly Consolidated Financial Reports
  • Lead the Budget/Forecasting process and reporting
  • Work with managers for variance reporting and monthly accruals
  • Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinating as required with outside auditors/accountants
  • Assist with banking relationships and monthly bank reporting
  • Prepare and remit monthly Sales Tax returns
  • Calculate monthly Commissions for salespeople
  • Perform other duties as required/requested

Requirements

  • Professional Accounting Designation
  • At least 5 years in a senior accounting role, with supervision of staff
  • Exemplary Leadership Skills
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams as well as independently
  • Ability to occasionally work outside regular working hours
  • Working knowledge of GAAP. GAAS
  • Expert Computer Skills, with advanced proficiency in Office Products
  • Ability to travel if required for short periods

IT Support Technician / Developer

Job Title: IT Support Technician / Developer
Reports to: IT Manager

Position Summary

In this dynamic dual role, the IT Support Technician Developer will primarily be updating and maintaining in-house developed applications and systems, in addition to being a point of contact for computer hardware/software support. The ideal candidate is pro-active, organized, self-motivated, and adept at working well with a team in a busy office. This position can be in our Detroit or Blenheim office.

Responsibilities

  • Write clean, testable, maintainable code
  • Take ownership of features and drive them to completion
  • Participate in development sprints in a team environment
  • Review other developers’ code on a regular basis
  • Write test cases or perform unit testing
  • Analyze and refactor existing code to find better ways to do things
  • Effectively manage multiple projects, activities, and tasks simultaneously and prioritize based on business requirements
  • Support a wide variety of users through phone and email communication as well as personal interaction.
  • Collaborate with existing vendors to evaluate new technology that is available and make recommendations to management on using that technology
  • Configure, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and support computer workstations, laptops, tablets, printers, mobile devices, RFs, phones and other computer and telecommunications equipment
  • Work with fellow members of the IT department to accomplish assigned projects
  • As required, train users in various software and operating system activities
  • Recommend improvements and/or appropriate changes to policies and procedures
  • Maintain a library of process documentation

Requirements

  • Strong software development fundamentals (design patterns, data structures, algorithms, code structure)
  • Experience in at least one object-oriented language (Java, C#, C++)
  • Experience writing front end code including HTML, JavaScript and CSS
  • Experience working with databases and writing basic SQL queries
  • Experience using Git to create and review PRs, resolve merge conflicts, rebase and branching
  • Understanding of web application concepts such as MVC, REST, HTTP, etc.
  • A strong desire to continually learn new things and constantly improve
  • Hands-on experience with Windows/Mac environments
  • Working knowledge of hardware components, hardware configurations, and have strong software experience.
  • Strong end-user interaction/communication skills
  • Able to recognize potential problems and initiate appropriate preventative action
  • Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other team members is essential
