Hull number 156 is one of the 21 Tritones built for 1961. That year was marked by an increase in the length of the model from 7.94 metres to 8.02 metres, while its width remained unchanged. In addition, all the model produced in this new series were now equipped with twin 177-horsepower Chrysler V-8 engines.

This particular Tritone was delivered to Sig. Ivone Grassetto of Padova, one of the most important Italian real estate entrepreneurs, known for his passions for horse riding and farming. The city’s racecourse now bears his name. After his death in 1971, the family retained the boat a few years before selling it to a German lawyer, who navigated on Lake Maggiore, then the German lakes of Starnberger and Constance until the late 1980s.

During this period, the Tritone 156 was transformed into a Tritone 'aperto' version, the precursor of the Aquarama, with an open sunbathing deck above the engines; then, still on Lake Constance, a new owner restored the boat to its original configuration, with its superbly varnished engine hoods. It is there that the present owner discovered it in 2008, hidden under its Riva blue awning and in good condition, in a well-known boatyard of the region. Thus began several years of meticulous renovation to restore its original lustre of 1961: revision of the hull, complete re-varnishing, new electrical wiring, refurbished Chrysler engines, new chromes, and complete overhaul of the control panel, enhanced by the elegant sobriety of the classic dashboard of the 1961 Tritone, all completed with the bi-coloured upholstery executed by Morosini in Sarnico.

Offered just two months following the tragic passing of boatbuilding legend Carlo Riva at the ripe age of 95, traditional mahogany Rivas of the Dolce Vita era will continue to appeal to collectors and connoisseurs for many years to come. Thanks to its brilliant restoration, this highly desirable example of the twin-engine Riva in its purest form, signed Carlo Riva, has regained all its original prestige and is ready to be enjoyed.

Inoltre, tutti i modelli prodotti in questa nuova serie, sono stati equipaggiati con due motori V-8 Chrysler da 177 cavalli.

Questo particolare Tritone è stato consegnato al Sig. Ivone Grassetto di Padova, uno dei più importanti imprenditori immobiliari italiani, conosciuto per la sua passione per l'equitazione e l'agricoltura. L’ippodromo della città, porta il suo nome. Dopo la sua morte avvenuta nel 1971, la famiglia ha tenuto la barca per ancora pochi anni, prima di venderla ad un avvocato tedesco, che l’ha usata per navigare sul lago Maggiore e poi sui laghi tedeschi di Starnberg e Costanza fino alla fine del 1980.

Durante questo periodo il Tritone 156 è stata trasformato in una versione Tritone 'aperto', il precursore dell’Aquarama, con un prendisole aperto sopra i motori; poi, sempre sul Lago di Costanza, un nuovo proprietario ha ripristinato la barca nella sua configurazione originale, con i suoi cofani motore superbamente verniciati. E' lì che l’ha scoperto, nel 2008, l'attuale proprietario nascosto sotto il suo telone blu Riva e in buone condizioni, in un ben noto cantiere della regione. Sono poi cominciati diversi anni di meticolosa ristrutturazione, per riportare il Tritone al suo splendore originale del 1961: revisione della chiglia, completa riverniciatura, nuovi cablaggi elettrici, motori Chrysler rinnovati, nuove cromature e revisione completa del pannello di controllo, impreziosito dall'elegante sobrietà del classico cruscotto del Tritone del 1961, tutto rifinito con il rivestimento bicolore eseguito da Morosini a Sarnico.

Offerto in vendita appena due mesi dopo la tragica scomparsa della leggenda della nautica Carlo Riva, all’età di 95 anni, il tradizionale Riva in mogano simbolo della Dolce Vita, continuerà ad attrarre collezionisti ed intenditori per molti anni a venire. Grazie al suo attento restauro, questo esemplare dell’estremamente desiderabile Riva bimotore nella sua forma più pura, firmato Carlo Riva, ha riconquistato tutto il suo carisma originale ed è pronto per essere gustato.
