To the casual passerby, this could be just another 911 . . . but the grin on the driver’s face would say otherwise. Presented here is one of Porsche’s most anticipated cars produced to date: the 911 R.

This particular example is presented in virtually as-new condition. Delivered new to its first owner in Italy, who has a small collection of 911s, the car has remained in his care ever since. Finished in GT Silver Metallic with Green racing stripes and fitted with a black leather interior, the car is fitted with a handful of other options, including PCM, cruise control, fire extinguisher, and the desirable 90-litre fuel tank.

These particular options truly fit in line with the 911 R’s mantra of offering everything the driver and passenger need to have a truly brilliant driving experience, but nothing that would distract them from the task at hand. With the departure of the manual transmission from Porsche’s GT3 and GT3 RS models of the 991-generation of 911, Porsche enthusiasts around the globe were clamouring for a ‘back-to-basics’ approach for their favourite sports car. Some enthusiasts may have favoured Porsche’s PDK transmission in pursuit of extracting the most performance from their 911, but others saw the departure of the six-speed manual as the departure of the true driver’s car.

Porsche heard the calls of its clientele and in response, promised something that would truly be incredible: a limited-edition 911 with the drivetrain of the GT3 RS but catering to the temperament of the enthusiast driver by fitting a manual transmission. Introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the 911 R was released to great fanfare, offering thrilling performance with slight tweaks throughout to provide the most enjoyable driving experience possible, rather than the fastest possible lap time.

Driven sparingly, the car has yet to even cross its threshold of break-in mileage, with under 1,000 kilometres on its odometer at the time of cataloguing, and remains ready for many more grin-inducing miles ahead.

Queste opzioni particolari sono perfettamente in linea con il concetto alla base della 911 R di offrire tutto ciò che conducente e il passeggero hanno bisogno per godere appieno di una splendida esperienza di guida, senza, al contempo, venire distratti dal loro compito principale. Con l’abbandono della possibilità di montare il cambio manuale sulle Porsche GT3 e GT3 RS della serie 991 della 911, gli appassionati Porsche di tutto il mondo chiedevano a gran voce la la produzione di una versione ‘back-to-basics’ della propria auto sportiva preferita. Alcuni appassionati possono aver scelto e favorito la trasmissione PDK Porsche, perfetta per estrarre il massimo delle prestazioni dalla propria 911, ma, altri, hanno visto l’indisponibilità del cambio manuale a sei marce come un distacco della 911 dall’essere la macchina per il vero pilota.

Porsche sentito il grido di dolore della sua clientela ha risposto, promettendo qualcosa che sarebbe stato assolutamente incredibile: un'edizione limitata di 911 con la meccanica della GT3 RS ma, per soddisfare il piacere dei guidatori più entusiastim abbinata ad un cambio manuale. Introdotta al Salone di Ginevra del 2016, la 911 R è stata lanciata in grande stile, offrendo prestazioni esaltanti con lievi ritocchi in molti particolari pensati per offrire un’esperienza di guida la più piacevole possibile, piuttosto che il tempo sul giro più veloce possibile.
