- A seguito del successo ottenuto con la 550 Barchetta, è stato naturale per Ferrari decidere di produrre una vettura aperta, in tiratura limitata, su base 575 Maranello. Dopo aver ricevuto i commenti dai proprietari sulla 550 Barchetta, era evidente che la nuova macchina sarebbe stata diversa. Per quanto gradevole fosse la 550 Barchetta, la mancanza di un tetto in tela usabile, la rendeva giusta solo per rapide uscite, ma non sfruttabile per lunghi viaggi. Ferrari, al posto di realizzare un soft-top più duraturo e dal movimento elettrico, ha deciso di prendere una strada completamente differente.

Following the success of the 550 Barchetta, it was only natural that Ferrari created a limited-edition convertible version of the 575M Maranello. However, after receiving feedback from owners about the 550 Barchetta, it was clear that this new car would be different. As lovely as the 550 Barchetta was, its lack of a usable soft-top made the car wonderful for quick out-and-back jaunts but not practical for longer road trips. Instead of crafting a more durable and power-operated soft-top, Ferrari decided to go an entirely different route.
Other than its production run of only 559 examples, what truly made the 575 Superamerica special was its roof. It was the first roof its kind to be fitted to a production car. It utilised a carbon-fibre frame that was seamlessly integrated with electrochromatic glass, and whilst fitted in place, the opacity of the glass could be adjusted from within the cabin to allow varying amounts of light in the cabin. At its lightest setting, the cabin could be bathed in natural light, similar to that of a convention sunroof, and at its darkest, only 1% of the sun’s rays would enter the cabin. With the press of a button, the Superamerica can be transformed into a convertible, as the roof will rotate to rest flush with the boot lid in just 10 seconds. This clearly resonated with Ferrari’s most loyal customers, and all 559 examples were sold before production began.
This Italian-delivery 575 Superamerica is finished in the rare and desirable colour combination of Grigio Silverstone over Cuoio and it is presented in virtually as-new condition. The car has been carefully preserved and conservatively used over the entirety of its life, and its odometer shows just 600 kilometres from new, about half of which were accumulated during pre-delivery factory testing. It also still retains its original books and tools.
As the 575 Superamerica offers both the comfort and security of a closed coupé with the freedom of a convertible, it represents the best of both worlds in terms of Ferrari ownership. It retains all the power and performance of the 575M Maranello yet brings an additional level of excitement and emotion to an already wonderful automobile. With just 600 kilometres on its odometer, this example is truly one of the finest Superamericas available today.
Oltre la produzione limitata a soli 559 esemplari, quello che rende veramente speciale la 575 Superamerica, è il suo tetto. E’ stato il primo del suo tipo, ad essere utilizzato per un auto di produzione. Utilizza una struttura in fibra di carbonio, annegata ed integrata con il vetro elettrocromatico e, quando messo in posizione chiusa, c’è la possibilità di regolare, dall’interno dell’abitacolo, la sua trasparenza, in modo da variare la quantità di luce che può attraversarlo. Con la soluzione più luminosa, l’abitacolo riceve tutta la luce naturale, come se si trattasse di un normale tetto apribile in vetro, mentre, nella posizione più scura, solo l’1% della luce solare riesce a passare. Semplicemente schiacciando un pulsante, la Superamerica può essere trasformata in una vettura aperta, perché il vetro ruoterà su se stesso e si nasconderà sul cofano del baule, in appena 10 secondi. Questa scelta tecnica ha senz’altro soddisfatto i desideri dei più fedeli clienti Ferrari, tanto che tutti i 599 esemplari prodotti, sono stati venduti ancora prima che la produzione cominciasse.
Questa 575 Superamerica, da sempre in Italia, è rifinita nella rara e desiderabile combinazione cromatica Grigio Silverstone con interni Cuoio. Viene presentata in condizioni praticamente pari al nuovo, e, ad oggi, ha avuto un solo proprietario. Questa vettura è stata sempre attentamente preservata, con pochissimo uso nel corso di tutta la sua esistenza, con il suo contachilometri che riporta solo 600 chilometri percorsi da nuova, dei quali circa la metà sono stati percorsi durante i collaudi pre-consegna eseguiti dalla fabbrica. Naturalmente è ancora dotata dei libretti e del set attrezzi originali.
La 575 Superamerica offer la comodità e la sicurezza di una vettura coupé, unita alla libertà connessa con una vettura aperta, rappresentando il meglio di entrambe le soluzioni all’interno del mondo Ferrari. Mantiene tutta la potenza e le prestazioni della 575 Maranello, già di suo una meravigliosa automobile, cui aggiunge un ulteriore livello di soddisfazione di guida ed emozione. Con soli 600 chilometri percorsi con il suo unico proprietario, questa 575 Superamerica è, senz’altro, uno dei migliori esemplari oggi in esistenza.
