Launched at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 1966, the Alfa Romeo 1600 ‘Duetto’ Spider proved an instant success for its stunning Pininfarina styling, involving driving dynamics, and peppy twin-cam performance. The car earned its ‘Duetto’ nickname as the result of a postal competition, and it perfectly suited the diminutive boat-tailed roadster. The model would go on to play a starring role in The Graduate, and became forever an icon of La Dolce Vita.

Chassis 661303 was completed on 25 July 1966 and left the factory finished in Bianco over a Nero Skai interior. In April 1988 the Spider was acquired by Leo Jefer via A Stampfli Automobile, in whose care it would remain until at least 2001; several invoices and receipts indicate regular maintenance throughout his ownership. By September 2017 the car had been registered in the name of fellow Swiss, Francesco Ventura. Invoices available to view on file indicate that a bout of restoration work occurred between 2019 and 2022, at a cost exceeding CHF 150,000.

Now part of The Iseli Collection, this smart and well-presented Duetto Spider is finished in its original combination of Bianco over a Nero Skai interior, and is a fine example of perhaps the most quintessential Italian roadster.
