Offered today from 50 years of single ownership, the current owner purchased the 400 GT presented here new in December of 1967 following a visit to the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese with his son, where they met with Ferruccio Lamborghini himself. Finished just how it appears today, in Azzurro Mettallizzato over a Nero interior, after completion chassis no. 01285 was subsequently shipped to the Netherlands to be delivered to its enthusiastic owner.

Driven regularly over the next four years, the car accumulated nearly 50,000 km on its odometer. Serviced as necessary during this time in the Netherlands, the car made a trip back to the factory for a service in 1969, and the owner’s son travelled with it. He made the trip to work as an intern at Lamborghini in an effort to learn the car’s mechanical nuances, allowing him to work on his father’s car personally for any minor service work.

In March of 1971, the owner moved to the south of France for his retirement and brought his 400 GT with him, re-registering it there and using it on occasion. Over the course of the next 25 years, the car largely remained in storage yet was started and driven up and down the road regularly to ensure it remained in running and driving condition. In May 2016, it was decided that the 400 GT would come out of storage and was returned to the Netherlands, where it was re-registered there and fully serviced upon its arrival, ensuring that it would be ready to drive and enjoy at a moment’s notice.

The appeal of this 400 GT is instantly apparent. Owned and enjoyed by the same man who bought it new at the Lamborghini factory 50 years ago, it has been well looked after, preserved and enjoyed for its entire life. Remaining highly original throughout, and still wearing the majority of its original paintwork, this is truly the most remarkable 400 GTs to come to auction in recent memory.

En effet, son actuel propriétaire en a fait l'acquisition en décembre 1967, après une visite avec son fils à l'usine Lamborghini de Sant’Agata Bolognese, où ils ont rencontré Ferruccio Lamborghini lui-même. Une fois sortie d'usine et offrant la combinaison de couleurs qu'elle présente encore aujourd'hui, Azzurro Mettallizzato avec intérieur Nero, cette voiture portant le numéro de châssis 01285 a été expédiée en Hollande où elle a été livrée à son propriétaire enthousiaste.

Utilisée régulièrement pendant les quatre années suivantes, elle totalisaient alors presque 50 000 km. Entretenue régulièrement pendant cette période en Hollande, elle est repassée en 1969 à l'usine, avec le fils du propriétaire. Ce dernier effectuait le voyage pour travailler comme stagiaire chez Lamborghini, dans le but d'apprendre les spécificités mécaniques de la voiture et de pouvoir ensuite effectuer lui-même les menus travaux d'entretien.

En mars 1971, le propriétaire déménageait dans le sud de la France pour sa retraite et emmenait la 400 GT dont l'immatriculation était alors modifiée. Au cours des 25 années qui ont suivi, la voiture est restée entreposée, tout en bénéficiant d'une mise en route et de sorties épisodiques pour s'assurer qu'elle restait en bon état de fonctionnement. En mai 2016, il était décidé de la faire sortir de son hibernation et de la ramener aux Pays-Bas, où elle recevait une nouvelle immatriculation. Elle bénéficiait également d'une opération d'entretien complète, de façon à permettre une utilisation sans souci, à tout moment.

L'attrait de cette 400 GT saute aux yeux. Possédée et utilisée par le propriétaire qui l'avait achetée neuve il y a 50 ans à l'usine Lamborghini, elle a été bien entretenue, préservée et utilisée avec soin pendant toute son existence. Elle se présente dans un état d'origine étonnant, encore revêtue de la plus grande partie de sa peinture d'époque, et constitue donc la 400 GT la plus remarquable de celles dernièrement présentées aux enchères.
