Records indicate that chassis 8627 was sold new by Luigi Chinetti Motors in New York to its first owner Don Horn, of Memphis, Tennessee, on August 23, 1966, originally finished in Rosso with a Pelle Beige interior. This is a desirable Series II U.S.A. model with single headlights and comes equipped with power windows and the late-model “hanging pedal” setup. After subsequently spending time in Texas, on December 31, 1988, it was purchased by noted Ferrari collector Dr. Robert Bodin, of Minneapolis, Minnesota where it shared garage space with a 250 GTO and 250 Testa Rossa, among others. By 1994 it was sold to Myron Cottrell, of Minneapolis, then Stacy Schulman, of Santa Monica, California, in early-1999. Between 1999 and 2000, Gran Touring Classics, of Long Beach, California, performed work on the car which saw the brakes, suspension, cooling, and carburetion fully sorted. In addition, the exhaust system and various seals were replaced, the wheel bearings were serviced, and the drive shaft and yolk were rebuilt.

In subsequent years, the paint and chrome were fully restored, a cosmetic freshening was performed on the engine bay, and in 2004, the interior upholstery was extensively freshened. The result of this work was a Gold at Concorso Italiano in 2005. After ongoing attention to detail, it then scored Platinum at Concorso Italiano in 2006, 2007, and 2008 and Platinum at Bella Italiano in 2007 and 2008.

The car changed hands again in September of 2010. Between 2010 and 2011, Ferrari/Maserati of Central New Jersey, completed service work in addition to performing the inspection and photography for Classiche certification, which was later issued on 17 November 2010, confirming the car retains its original engine and transmission. The car was most recently shown at the 2017 Cavallino Classic and Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

This stunning Ferrari is finished in Rosso Rubino with a very elegant Crema leather interior which is accented by dark red carpets and seat belts. As a multiple Platinum level car, 8627 comes manuals and owner’s pouch, tool kit, and the coveted Ferrari Classiche certification binder (Red Book).
