By the time 1955 came about, manufacturers of the high-priced cars had developed and liberally used their own euphemism for this type of car. In this vocabulary, “fine” took on the same meaning as “quality,” which in turn could lead the prospective customer that this was going to be “high-priced.” Economy- and image-minded Ford decided to take direct aim at the high-priced theme and touted itself as “The Fine Car of its Field.”

Styling for the 1955 models was completely new with sharper, straighter lines and integrated sharper angles than ever before. Wrapped-around windshields also added to the modern appearance. Ford’s 1955 Mainline and Customline series were reduced to two models in each line, a Fordor and a Tudor, the Tudor example being seen with this beautiful blue model.

This Customline Tudor has been “mildly customized” and is powered by a V-8 engine with dual exhaust that is matched to an automatic transmission. The interior is similar and complementary in tone to the exterior and has patterned fabric seat inserts within the vinyl covered interior. The overall condition is reported to be “beautiful” with a rust-free frame and floorpans that are said to be “like new.” The body fit is also nicely executed, the chrome is excellent, the engine bay is well detailed and the aforementioned interior is also excellent with its original style. The rear bumper has an extension to accommodate the aftermarket Continental kit; dual spotlights, fender skirts, dual sideview mirrors, radio, radial whitewall tires and Ford factory full wheel discs.
