Addendum: Please note this vehicle is titled as a 1968

The 3000 Mark III, series BJ8, which was introduced in late 1963 and built through December 1967, was the final version of the beloved “Big” Healey, and it represents the highest refinement of the marque.

With twin two-inch SU carburetors, the well-developed 2,912-cc, six-cylinder engine of the Mark III could produce 150 horsepower, which was the most of any model in the Austin-Healey line. With a four-speed manual gearbox, the car was advertised to accelerate from 0- to 60-mph in just 9.8 seconds, and its top speed was around 120-mph. Other improvements included a revised exhaust system and a vacuum brake booster as standard. The model name 3000 Mark III and the series designation BJ8 are synonymous, and it is only this model within the entire range of Austin-Healeys that features a luxurious cockpit that combines a dashboard of burled walnut veneer, a center console with the curved windscreen, wing windows, and roll-up side windows that had been introduced shortly before on the series BJ7 model. It is clearly the most comfortable, most weather-tight, and most luxurious of all Austin-Healeys.

The example offered here is offered in quite respectable condition with a limited number of paint imperfections, while the upholstery is like-new having benefitted from a recent restoration. The vinyl seats and dash cover are free of any rips, tears and scratches. The woodgrain dash panel is also reported to be like-new and the Smiths gauges are crystal clear. The black vinyl soft-top is also in excellent condition. The chrome and trim elements show to be in good condition and the bumpers are excellent in presentation. The wire wheels have knock-off hubs and the wire wheels are superb with Bridgestone blackwalls measuring P165 / 80 R15 look nearly new. The undercarriage appears to have been undercoated and is free of rust or dents.

The car is painted in a popular two-tone scheme that is defined by the Healey’s crisp, clean lines that so beautifully highlights the car’s shape and curves. The badge-bar contributes to the European flair of this sports car which offers excellent investment potential, while also delivering classic and stylish British motoring from a golden era.
