The 1938 Ford brochure proclaims, “riding is gliding in this Deluxe Convertible Sedan, with its long springbase, double shock-absorbers and superbly smooth 85-hp V-8 engine. Windows lower and the smart tan top folds flat, when skies are blue and weather balmy.” This example is presented in a relaxing tan tone with complementary tan soft-top and brown interior. The transmission is a floor-shift three-speed manual and the brakes are hydraulically-operated. This 81A Convertible Sedan has a radio, dual mirrors, rear bumper guards, plus color-keyed steel wheels with factory caps and whitewall tires. The distinguishing grille and hood side louvers help to readily identify this as a Deluxe model.
