In September of 2015, Pope Francis made a historic visit to the United States, traveling to Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia. For the purpose of his trip to New York Fiat Chrysler donated two Fiat 500Ls to the Secret Service to be used by Pope Francis while in New York City. While in the states Pope Francis’s 500Ls were fitted with a small Vatican City flag and sported a “SCV 1” license plate; the abbreviation for Status Civitatis Vaticanae which translated from Latin means Vatican City State.
The 2015 Fiat 500L offered is one of two cars Pope Francis used during his trip to New York. The Secret Service has confirmed with the Archdiocese of New York that this car was in fact used by Pope Francis.
Pope Francis arrived in New York on September 24th and held evening prayer at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. On September 25th, Pope Francis addressed the United Nations General-Assembly, visited the 9/11 Memorial and Museum where he met with members of the 9/11 community and participated in a multi-religious prayer service, met with Catholic school children at the Our Lady Queen of Angels School in East Harlem where he also had an encounter with those helped by Catholic Charities Immigration Services and traveled via Papal Motorcade through Central Park. The trip to New York concluded that evening with Pope Francis presiding over Mass at Madison Square Garden. Pope Francis departed New York on September 26th for Philadelphia.
Presented in Grigio Scuro (Gray Metallic) this Fiat 500L Lounge Hatchback is powered by a 1.4-liter, 160-hp inline four-cylinder MultiAir Turbo engine which is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. Power equipment on the car includes windows, locks, seats, mirrors, steering and brakes. Exterior features on the car include a body colored roof, deep tint sunscreen glass, as well as chrome mirror caps, door handles and bodyside moldings. The interior is completed with leather trimmed seats and steering wheel, Uconnect 5.0 with Beats premium audio and Bluetooth, as well as a rear backup camera with ParkSense rear park assist. The 500L rides on Nexen tires mounted on 16-inch aluminum wheels.
Please note, the proceeds of the sale will go towards the Archdiocese of New York, who will in turn donate to the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New York, Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New York. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to great causes and own a piece of history.
