To enhance the marketability of its rear-engined Corvair, in 1963 Chevrolet expanded the lineup with a van and pickup configuration. This new commercial line was dubbed the “Corvair 95”, referring to the 95-inch wheelbase. The Rampside Pickup was unique because of the large drop-down door on the right-hand side of the bed, creating a ramp for heavier loads to be rolled in. Despite its compact-car origin, the Corvair 95’s were able to carry loads comparable to full-sized Chevy trucks of its day. Standard equipment included a six-cylinder with three-speed synchromesh transmission, electric wipers and five tubeless tires while chrome hubcaps and bumpers were optional.
