Ford did not market a true speedster during the Model T years. The closest thing was the Open Runabout, a lightweight roadster without doors sold in 1911 only. Considered the best-performing Fords of the era, they are in great demand today.

Many enthusiasts have built speedsters, however, and in later years many aftermarket bodies were offered. This is such a built-up car, using many authentic Model T parts, like E&J brass lighting electrified for modern use. Using a styling model that resembles the highly-respected Stutz Bearcat; it has a monocle windshield, bucket-type seats and oversized rear brakes. The engine, whose number identifies the chassis, is a 1926 electric-start unit.

Additional equipment that is worthy of note includes Ford embossed running boards, wood spoke wheels, rear-mounted spare and brass elements in the form of a moto-meter, headlights, radiator shell, interior hardware, sill plates, driver’s side bulb-horn, coach-style cowllights and taillight, plus the hardware on the elliptically-shaped fuel tank. A body color storage trunk is mounted toward the back of the chassis for packing the necessities when off touring. The Speedsters red exterior finish is nicely complemented by the yellow undercarriage; all indications reveal that this is a nicely finished and quite uncommon presentation of a 1911 Ford Model T.

All Model Ts are fun. Speedsters are the most fun of all.
