The 1946 and 1947 Hudson Commodore Eight was the top-of-the-line series for Hudson in the immediate postwar lineup. It shared its body shell and the majority of its design features with additional Hudson models. Many of the characteristics were all were carryovers from the 1941-1942 presentations. The 1946-1947 Hudson Commodore Eight was available as a four-door sedan, club coupe, and Brougham convertible coupe. The 254-cid, 128-hp straight eight-cylinder engine was considered to be big, and it allowed the Commodore strong performance. Along with performance considerations, you also got nicer trim than with the Super Six. Hudson’s step-down cars of 1948 marked a new direction for the company, and this became the final year for this well-recognized Hudson style.

The series 174 Hudson Commodore Eight sedan is finished a vibrant two-tone green that is complemented by a complimentary green interior. The interior has a fine blending of patterned and solid materials that features an almost sofa-like rear seat with a large center armrest and similarly plush armrests for the outboard arm positions also. It is reported that this restored example had the body disassembled and stripped down to bare metal before refinishing. The headliner, carpet and door panels have been replaced. The seats had been reupholstered at an earlier date. The exterior trim is all-original, as are the color-keyed steel wheels and hubcaps. Among the other highlights are an original car cooler,” original Kleenex dispenser made specifically for the Hudson Motor Car Co., AM radio, dash-mounted clock, heater and whitewall tires.
