Cadillac built approximately 21,000 Allantes during a production run that lasted from 1987-1993. As Cadillac’s flagship model, it was designed to compete with the Mercedes-Benz SL and the Jaguar XJS. Most unusual was the production arrangement whereby completed bodies designed and manufactured in Italy by Pininfarina, were shipped from Italy in specially-designed Boeing 747’s 56 at-a-time to Cadillac’s Detroit/Hamtramck assembly plant where they were mated to U.S.-manufactured chassis and engines.

Considered the most desirable of all produced was the final-year model, like this example. 1993 Allantes were equipped with Cadillac’s high-performance 295-hp 4.6-litre Northstar V-8. Other changes enhanced performance, comfort and drivability. Production, the highest of all years, remained limited at 4,600 units. This black over tan leather example features a black soft-top and less than 69,000 miles.
