Formally introduced on March 5, 1927, the LaSalle was priced at $2,685 in base four-door sedan form, exactly $100 higher than the equivalent Fifth Series Packard. General Motors had hoped to undercut its luxury car rival by a few hundred dollars, but neither GM nor Fisher was prepared to dilute traditional Cadillac quality merely for the sake of a lower advertised price. Packing a rated 75 horsepower, any '27 LaSalle was capable of an easy 70 miles an hour. The LaSalle model line was part of the Cadillac Division and filled a price gap between Buick and Cadillac. In its first year, it accounted for no less than 25% of Cadillac’s total sales, and by 1929 it was significantly outselling Cadillac. Throughout the depression of the ‘30s, LaSalle provided the sales volume that helped Cadillac survive. Though Cadillac Division sales rarely exceeded Packard’s, the LaSalle share was usually substantial.

Presented in an appealing finish of Butterscotch & Cream, this rumble seat coupe is the “bee’s knees.” Only a handful of these LaSalle coupes are known to exist in various collections around the wold and they seldom are found for sale. This attractive offering is equipped with the 353-cid L-Head Cadillac engine, rated at 95 horsepower, and a floor-shift three-speed manual transmission. As an upscale car when new, it is very well furnished with many accessories. This items include dual side mount spare tires with top-mounted rear-view mirrors, steel spare tire covers, dual road lamps, dual fender lamps, hand-crank rear window to access the rumble seat passengers, windshield wiper, rear luggage rack and polished step plates for the running boards. The engine compartment has been retained in a very original and non-restored condition, down to the cloth-style plug wires, while the passenger compartment has been fully restored to an excellent fresh condition. This LaSalle has the possibilities of being a very fun and reliable driver once fully sorted.
