Chevrolet called its entire new ‘Task Force’ generation of mid-1950s light trucks a "Modern Design for Modern Hauling." Forward-slanting windshield pillars on the ‘Panoramic’ wraparound windshield combined with a new upper cab structure, hooded headlamps and shapely wheel openings to form an all-new profile. Introduced in 1955 was the elegant Cameo Carrier that echoed the smooth slab sides and bright trim of Chevy’s cars.

Although the Chevrolet Cameo Carrier was never a hot seller -- largely because of its high price -- it was of crucial importance, bringing passenger-car styling elements into the truck world for the first time in a serious way. The Cameo's fiberglass rear fenders broadened it to the same width as the front end, producing a flow-through look. Chuck Jordan, former head of GM Design, earned credit for that form. Not unlike Chevy's cars of the day, the Cameo sported a chrome grille, wraparound front bumper, and a third more glass than the previous 3100 Series trucks. The interior also was more car-like, which featured a fan-shaped speedometer and needle gauges.

This is one of only 2,240 Cameos produced for 1957– making its rarity quite disproportionate to the influence it had on the future of truck production, but also driving the immense popularity these trucks enjoy among collectors and investors. This stunning body-off restoration is powered by a V-8 engine matched with an three-speed transmission. A fresh and corrected restoration was completed and since meticulously maintained from top to bottom. It is truly impressive and would be an outstanding addition to any collection, as well as a proven quality investment.
