The stylish Satellite was the top model in Plymouth’s midsize Belvedere lineup for 1965. Exhibiting clean styling by Elwood Engel, who had been called upon to revitalize Chrysler’s stuffy early-Sixties image, the sleeker new car arrived to good reviews that welcomed its clean features, fashionable bucket seat interior and a range of V-8 engines. Only 1,860 Satellite convertibles were built, making them quite rare today. It is reported to us that only 65 of these were equipped with the 426 Street Wedge and a mere 21 had the automatic transmission.
