Offering a completely different approach to top-down motoring from its predecessor, the 550 Barchetta, Ferrari’s 575 Superamerica utilized a unique Revochromico rotating hardtop to allow driver and passenger both the thrills of top-down motoring with almost no loss in practicality, as trunk space remained virtually unchanged. At the same time, with paddle-shift transmissions gaining steam in the marketplace and ever-growing popularity with Ferrari’s clients, fewer and fewer Ferraris with a traditional gated shift and third pedal were leaving the factory, and only 43 manual-transmission equipped 575 Superamericas would leave the factory gates before production concluded.

One such manual-transmission Superamerica, this particular example was originally finished in its present shade of Rosso Corsa with a Nero interior with carbon fibre trim and exceptionally rare carbon fibre racing seats, and it was delivered new to its first owner in Austria. The car was acquired by its second owner and imported to Germany 10 years ago and has remained with him ever since. In his ownership, the car was fitted with a sportier exhaust, but it is important to note that the original exhaust will accompany the car. The car’s last service was done at Edo Competizione in Ahlen, Germany, and it has accumulated 2,000 kilometres since. More recently, the car has been fitted with brand new tyres front and rear.

Arguably the most desirable variant of the 575 platform, manual-transmission Superamericas are seldom seen and highly sought after, as they combine the perfect combination of open-air practicality and sporting elegance. Offered from the collection of its second owner with only 15,000 kilometres on its odometer, it will surely prove to be a wonderful grand tourer for its third custodian.
