Model 1BA. 100 bhp, 239 cu. in. L-head V-8 engine, three-speed manual transmission, coil-spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 114 in.
The 1951 Fords were powered by the trusty 100-horsepower, 239-cubic inch, flathead V-8 that is fitted with a Holley two-barrel carburetor. The flathead in 1951 was smoother and quieter, thanks to new composite timing gear, revised pistons, a new crankshaft, and the fitting of rubber o-ring seals, which help to make it much more enjoyable to drive overall.
The pristine 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe Convertible seen here has undergone an extensive rotisserie, nut-and-bolt, fully detailed restoration, and it has been a showpiece in two major collections. The undercarriage and engine bay are detailed to top condition and appear as though the car has barely seen the road. As expected, the engine and three-speed manual transmission are stated to be in good working order and appear clean and tidy throughout. Optional features on the car include a factory radio, a clock (rebuilt with quartz movement), dual mirrors, a power top, front and rear bumper guards, headlight “eyebrows,” Kelsey Hayes-style wire wheels, a Continental kit, and a spare tire that is mounted in the trunk compartment. A binder of receipts from the restoration accompanies the car.
Each area of this fantastic Ford is exceptionally clean and difficult to fault. This stylish 1950s Convertible, which is finished in a bright lipstick red with a cream and grey interior, could easily be seen at a local show or drive-in theater.
