Ford’s 1941 models underwent a complete redesign. Gone was the “pointed prow” that had characterized the make since 1937. It was replaced with what designer E.T. Gregorie called a more “horizontal effect,” which was in tune with what other automakers were using. Ford now had three series, the Special, the DeLuxe, and the Super DeLuxe. The convertible model was offered only as a Super Deluxe model.
This Super DeLuxe Convertible was completely restored just over three years ago. At that time, the car received a new coat of black paint and a new top and interior, and the dashboard also received new wood-grain paint. During the restoration, all of the stainless and chrome trim was redone. Accessories on the car include a radio with a windshield header antenna, a heater, clock bumper tips, a grille guard, and fender skirts. The luggage compartment has been carpeted, and blue dot taillight lenses have been fitted.
The engine compartment is clean and correctly detailed, with the correct hoses and hose clamps, and the undercarriage exhibits a similar level of cleanliness. It rides on Ford script 6.00x16 double whitewall tires, which are nicely complemented by bright beauty rings. Ford’s 1941 convertibles are collector favorites, and this example is superb.
