  • Very well-preserved example in Black over Maroon

85 hp, 221 cu. in. L-head eight-cylinder engine with speed equipment, three-speed manual transmission, two-speed differential, live axle suspension with transverse leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 112 in.

Ford only offered a handful of options on the 1940 DeLuxe models, and this prime Convertible features most of them. An AM radio with a windshield-mounted antenna, a clock, fender skirts, DeLuxe hubcaps and trim rings, chrome bumpers with Ford script guards, bumper tips, and dual mirrors are all present.

Under the hood is a most pleasant surprise, as a rich patina that can only be had with decades of preservation is found. Cloth wire coverings, Ford hoses, vintage clamps, and the dark green paint of the engine block can each be appreciated for their pure aesthetics. The deep maroon interior upholstery and antique dash components also give a warm vintage feel, which could not be more appropriate against the ebony black exterior. Crisp and straight body lines are seen from every angle on the convertible. The DeLuxe trim and V-8 moldings have all been polished and are very presentable. Five Ford script, four-ply, wide whitewall tires have also been mounted, including the one nestled neatly in the very tidy trunk compartment.

Based solely on the color combination of this DeLuxe Ford, it is easy to find appealing. The added accessories and very original presentation make it a sure inclusion on any most-wanted list.
