Launched in 1961 at the Geneva show, the E-Type echoed the sensation of its predecessor, the XK120, by offering an astonishing performance package with amazing speed and handling. In many ways, it revolutionized and invigorated the sports car market, which has never been the same since. Its brand-new four-wheel independent suspension, in particular, was so well conceived that it would be used by Jaguar for over 30 years.

The Series 1 4.2 model featured a 4.2-liter engine with three SU carburetors, a fully synchronized transmission, a fully instrumented dashboard with toggle switches, a center console and armrests, a steep windshield, and taillights mounted high above the bumper line on the rear deck, echoed by parking lights that are mounted high on the front fenders. This combination of features, along with its top speed of 140 mph, has made this among the most desirable of all E-Types—a user-friendly and sporty driver that also looks absolutely stunning.

This E-Type, one of the last Series 1 examples built, left the Browns Lane factory on March 31, 1967, and was sold new by Jaguar Cars of New York to Robert and Patricia Polker on April 12, 1967.

Most recently, the car was subjected to an extensive concours-quality restoration by the Jaguar marque specialists at Classic Showcase in Oceanside, California. Today, it presents in a truly stunning color combination of an opalescent Silver Blue exterior with a complementary dark blue leather interior, topped with an excellent dark blue soft-top and boot. The body was completely restored, and to exceptional standards with even the undercarriage of the E-Type painted in the body color. Once painted, the car was color-sanded and buffed to a deep gleaming shine. The engine, transmission, rear end, and steering rack were restored, with the hydraulic, cooling, fuel, and electrical systems also having been restored and rebuilt. This beautiful Jaguar also includes its JDHT Certificate, verifying that the “numbers match” and it has only been driven less than 100 test miles since its completion. A DVD of the restoration services performed by Classic Showcase will accompany the car. This highly collectible E-Type is ready for this season’s show circuit or to be driven, enjoyed, and admired, as it surely will be.
