Specifications: 436 cc Desmo single, five speeds.
With the success of the Scrambler and delirium that greeted the 1968 launch of desmodromic valve gear on a street bike, it was only a matter of time before Desmo engines wound up in the Scramblers. The U.S.-specification Desmo bikes had the small Scrambler tank and high bars. The 450-cc Desmo was tested by Cycle in 1970 and pulled a very respectable 16.6 seconds through the quarter-mile. The 450 often had an individual speedometer and Veglia tachometer rather than the headlight-mounted unit sometimes seen on 250-cc and 350-cc models. This yellow and black example is understood to be in good unrestored condition and is certainly the most desirable specification for this model.
