40 bhp 1,961 cc inline six-cylinder engine, three-speed floor shift manual transmission with overdrive, transverse leaf-spring front suspension, coil-spring swing axle rear suspension, and four-wheel hydraulically actuated drum brakes. Wheelbase: 3,048 mm

This 200 Lang, or long-wheelbase example, is fitted with elegant Cabriolet B coachwork. According to supplied invoices, it was treated to a comprehensive restoration by MIKA GmbH, in Germany, on behalf of a former caretaker, a Mr Steffens of Hamburg, during the mid-1990s. The body was removed from the chassis and both were sandblasted, smoothed, primed, and painted. All of the wood trim was refinished, all major brightwork was re-chromed, and new upholstery was fitted. The chassis and drivetrain were also treated to a restoration, which included the servicing of the engine, transmission, and rear swing axle and the refurbishment of various electrical components.

The restoration still shows very well, with obvious care given since. The exterior, finished in a lovely two-tone red and black, exhibits minor buffing marks from cleaning, but it still presents very well. The exterior brightwork displays some evidence of polishing, and it would benefit from a light detailing, whilst the black cloth top shows negligible wrinkling from storage. This Cabriolet rides on painted steel wheels that are finished in black and red and are shod in Firestone Deluxe Champion blackwall tyres. To add to the charm of this Cabriolet, a set of cowl-mounted trafficators are installed, along with auxiliary amber bumper-mounted signals for safety.

The engine is finished in a semi-gloss black, and the ancillary components, such as wiring, radiator hoses, copper tubing, and the air cleaner, have been appropriately renewed or detailed. The chassis displays a black semi-gloss finish. In addition, many of the driveline components appear to have been treated to a cleaning or paint detailing at the time of the restoration, and they still present well.

The interior displays well, with negligibly worn black leather seats and a complementing black carpet that displays no obvious wear. The plethora of rich wooden trim is beautifully refinished and exhibits no apparent blemishes. A grey cloth headliner is fitted to the underside of the top, and it presents very well. The integral rear boot is finished in beige carpet, and it is equipped with two levels of shelving, with trays for storage, and also stores the convertible top boot.

Included in the file is correspondence from Mercedes-Benz to former keeper Mr Steffens. This is a handsome pre-war Mercedes Cabriolet that could be shown with some minor detailing or enjoyed as a top-down tourer by its new owner.
