Introduced in 1998, the MV Agusta F4 was the motorcycle that brought the famed MV Agusta brand back to life. It was truly a rare breed of motorcycle, as just 300 examples of the MV Agusta F4 750 Serie Oro were produced altogether, and they were the first F4 model available to the public. Oro is Italian for gold, and many of the bikes’ magnesium parts, including the swing arm, wheels, and frame side plates, are anodized gold, hence the name.
The F4 was designed by Massimo Tamburini at the MV Agusta’s famed Cagiva Research Centre in San Marino. Tamburini was also responsible for the design of the Ducati 916, and he is credited with launching the resurrection of MV Agusta. Development of the F4’s engine was assisted by engineers at Ferrari, and as a result, this is one of few superbikes available that features a hemispherical chamber, four-valves-per-cylinder engine. Considered to be one of the best sport bikes in the world at the time of its release, the F4 uses an abundance of carbon fibre and alloy castings, which gives it one of the best power to weight ratios of any bike in its class, weighing a feather-light 180 kilograms.
The MV Agusta F4 Serie Oro presented here is number 245 of 300 produced, and it is in like-new condition. Like all the F4 Serie Oro bikes, this example is finished in the traditional MV Agusta red over silver paint scheme. Contemporary road tests raved about the F4’s incredible handling, and they were confident that this bike would be successful, securing the future of the MV Agusta brand. The Serie Oro offered today is in as-new condition, with only 413 kilometres, and offers a rare opportunity to acquire a very exclusive superbike.
