Model 68. 85 bhp, 221 cu. in. L-head V-8 engine, three-speed manual transmission, solid front axle and live rear axle with transverse semi-elliptical leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 112 in.

Purchased by its most recent private owner in 1988, this 1936 Ford V-8 DeLuxe Cabriolet was fully restored over four years in Florida. Completed in 1992, the car immediately hit the show circuit at Early Ford V-8 Club of America and AACA events in 1993. Shown across the country over the following eight years, the car took home an astounding number of awards, including four Dearborn Medallions and three AACA Senior Grand National awards, highlighting the quality and correctness of the restoration.

Donated to the AACA in 2001 prior to the museum’s opening, the car remains in pristine condition inside and out. In the AACA Museum’s custody, the car was used in the movie The Good Shepard, produced and directed by Robert De Niro and starring Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie alongside De Niro. During the film, Damon drove the car briefly as well, adding a touch of Hollywood glamor to an already incredible automobile. Noted as a running and driving example, the car remained on static display in the museum for quite some time, and it is advised that the buyer fully service the car before placing the vehicle into routine service.

One of the most beloved vehicles of the era, both when new and today, the 1936 Ford V-8 DeLuxe Cabriolet is a classic example of a pre-war American automobile for the everyday man. This particular example boasts numerous accolades and awards from club events across the country. Further benefitting from Hollywood provenance and a long-term presence in the AACA Museum, which the proceeds of the sale will benefit, this example checks all the right boxes.
