In 1934, Ford blanketed much of the automobile market, offering a wide range of no fewer than 12 distinct models to the buying public. Among them, available Ford models ranged from basic coupes, roadsters and two-door sedans to more luxurious and well-appointed cabriolets, convertible sedans and four-door sedans. Most importantly, Ford put high-quality automobiles within reach of ordinary Americans with low prices and rock-solid reliability.

While some buyers might only have been able to afford a basic four-cylinder, two-door coupe priced from $465, the handsome $590 V-8 Cabriolet was one of the upscale models that brought them into Ford showrooms. Equipped with roll-up windows and a snug cloth top, the 1934 Ford V-8 Cabriolet combined comfortable and complete appointments with the performance benefits of Ford’s steadily refined 85-horsepower V-8 engine and sturdy yet lightweight construction.

The striking Deluxe Cabriolet from 1934 has only traveled about 155 miles since it received a meticulous total body-off restoration to very high standards. A correct tan Haartz cloth convertible top, a correctly upholstered rumble seat, and Firestone wide whitewall tires complement the handsome Cordoba Tan exterior finish. The interior features a beautiful walnut dash and moldings and correct Lebaron-Bonney leather upholstery. Desirable period accessories include a cigar lighter, a rare ashtray-mounted radio with a wood-grain head unit, an exhaust deflector, a Greyhound radiator mascot and a locking gas cap. A correct Flathead V-8 engine, which is noted by the car’s knowledgeable owner/collector to run smoothly and quietly, provides power, and the beautifully restored undercarriage remains impressive as well.
