In recent years, Porsche's first-generation Type 930 Turbo (1975-1977) has become much sought after by collectors. Much lighter and more visceral than their modern counterparts, these Turbo Carreras (as they were first dubbed in the United States) were genuinely exciting automobiles.

Exaggerated fender flares and a large rear deck spoiler announced that the Turbo was no ordinary 911. The Turbo's performance matched its looks; the turbocharged three-liter air-cooled engine delivered its power through a strengthened four-speed manual gearbox, and many were equipped with an optional limited-slip differential. These early Type 930s could accelerate to 60 mph in six seconds and top 155 mph.

There would be only 727 North American-specification Turbos built and sold for the 1977 model year.

This remarkable single-owner Turbo was delivered to the U.S. on 14 January 1977 and purchased new by the current owner, a Michigan physician and longtime enthusiast, from Howard Cooper Volkswagen-Porsche-Audi of Ann Arbor on 14 April. The original cash receipt on file indicates payment of $31,059.75. It was originally optioned with the aforementioned limited-slip differential as well as an electric sunroof. The car was finished as it is today in Metallic Silver (code 936) over Lobster Red, a striking combination, and indeed, the owner recounts that both the paint and interior are the original factory finishes from 1977. He has had the car continuously maintained since new by expert Porsche mechanics, first at Howard Cooper and then by one of Cooper's former employees, Tim Potts, at ArborMotion. Today it records 35,129 miles at the time of cataloguing.

This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire an original 911 Turbo from its original caretaker.
