227 bhp, 316.6 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine, four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 124 in.

In the 1950s, Pontiac snapped out of a long career as a conservative businessman’s car. For 1955, a new Strato-Streak overhead valve V-8 gave the car new vigor, and all-new bodies were given bright multi-color motifs. For 1956, the engine got more power from additional cubic inches and, in Star Chiefs, a four-barrel carburetor.

Making a bold statement in black and red, this fully restored 1956 Star Chief Convertible Coupe is nicely outfitted with power steering, a Deluxe AM radio, windshield washers, seat belts, and accessory Cadillac-style black rubber “bullets” on the dagmars. The interior is stunning in red and white, and it exhibits no flaws. The engine compartment is sanitary and nicely detailed in authentic fashion. The rarest of the 1956 Pontiacs, aside from the station wagons, this striking Pontiac is absolutely gorgeous.
