Founded in 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Century Motorboats began by making fishing boats, canoes, sailboats, and racing outboards. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Manistee, Michigan, which would house their shop for the next 60 years. The company survived the Depression by producing small, useful boats. During World War II, the company supplied over 3,500 small assault boats to the U.S. Navy. The post-war models were restyled to create a wider and sleeker look that would carry into the late-fifties, when styling was modified to incorporate themes from current automobile trends, including painted design schemes and fiberglass consoles incorporated into the mahogany frames. This Century Resorter has a nice finish on the mahogany hull. It is powered by a Gray Marine V-8 engine with dual exhaust, and it has its original red and white vinyl upholstery. A trailer is included with the purchase, making this example ready to roll.
