For the first time in 1967, Porsche offered the 911 as a “Super” model producing a very hefty 160 hp from its two-liter Type 901/02 magnesium-cased air-cooled horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, a 30-hp improvement over the base 911. The 911 S picked up its added power via 9.8:1 compression, forged light-alloy pistons, larger 42-mm intake valves and 38-mm exhaust valves, forged connecting rods, and a pair of 40-mm Weber downdraft carburetors. This powerplant gave the new 911 S sparkling performance: 0–60 in 6.5 seconds and a maximum of 140 mph, said Car and Driver magazine.

There were ventilated disc brakes at all four corners, surrounded by 4.5-in. wide steel wheels, with Fuchs alloys available as an option for the first time. Adjustable Koni shocks and a new rear anti-roll bar were standard.

Offered is an outstanding, beautifully restored, and fully numbers-matching 1967 911 S, presented in its rare original color of Aga Blue over an elegant red leatherette interior with charcoal carpeting. It was delivered on 15 September 1966 with a number of desirable options, including a gas heater, sun visor with mirror, two headrests, a radio kit (antenna and speaker), Talbot outside mirror, a pair of retracting seat belts, an outside thermometer, a “spare parts kit,” and Dunlop radial tires. A Blaupunkt AM/FM radio was later installed, most likely by the dealer. The interior is set off by a wood-rimmed steering wheel and basket-weave dashboard trim. Chromed wheels and hubcaps brighten the exterior.

This very attractive 911 was fully restored by noted marque expert Tom Drummond at Wholesale California and appears in excellent condition. Supplied with its factory-issued Certificate of Authenticity, it is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
