• Two owners and less than 9,000 miles from new

• Eleven desirable options including two tops

The 560 SL series made from 1986 to 1989 is the most powerful and developed of the Mercedes-Benz two-seat sports cars, which began with the introduction of the 450 S in 1976 and was followed by the 380 SL in 1981. By 1986, the build year of this immaculate example, the V-8 engine had been enlarged to 5.5 liters, developing 230 hp, which guaranteed a 0-60 mph time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph.

The 560 SL, dubbed the “German Corvette” by a journalist because of its two-seat interior and highway performance, thankfully did not suffer the quality issues of the latter in period. The 560 SL rides smoothly and quietly, cosseting the two occupants in amply proportioned leather bucket seats, and offers safe and predictable handling.

This particular example is in outstanding condition and is extremely well equipped, featuring some 11 factory options, including two matching blue tops (hard and soft), air conditioning, power steering and windows, cruise control, premium sound system with cassette, dual front air bags, alloy road wheels, fog lights and rear window defroster. SLs have a cult-following among Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts, and this low-mileage example would make a perfect Arizona second-residence automobile for its next discerning owner.
