For its triumphant final run in first-generation solid rear-axle form, Corvette styling was significantly updated in 1961 and further refined for 1962 with the elimination of two-tone exterior finishes. Less decorative and more purposeful, the final C1 edition was a hot seller when new, and today, fine examples remain a perennial favorite.

While it took until 1955 for Chevrolet’s revolutionary small-block V-8 to occupy the Corvette engine bay, many engine and powertrain combinations were available by 1962. The basic 327-cubic inch V-8 offered a high 10.5:1 compression ratio, a four-barrel carburetor, and a no-maintenance hydraulic valvetrain to deliver a stout 250 bhp and startling all-around performance. Comfort and convenience options were abundant, and exterior color choices numbered seven distinctive hues, with only 820 Corvettes built for 1962 finished in Almond Beige, including this impressive multiple award winner.

Complete with its matching-numbers 327 V-8 and T-10 four-speed manual transmission combination, this example clearly benefits from a complete body-off-frame restoration to show quality, resulting in Bloomington Gold certification, regional NCRS Top Flight certification and the coveted NCRS “Triple Crown.” Complemented by a striking red upholstered interior, a black convertible top, period-style 6.70x15 white-stripe tires and hubcaps, the Corvette is highly equipped with aluminized exhaust, courtesy light, heater, sun visors, windshield washers, Wonderbar radio and a highway-friendly 3.36:1 rear end. It is also accompanied by factory-correct components including a spare tire, jack, jack tools, trunk mat, trunk liner, taillight cones, rebound straps, seat belts, washer system, shifter, shielding, air cleaner, generator, owner’s manual, sales brochure and T-3 headlights. Documented with Bloomington Gold and NCRS certificates and judging sheets, it is a superb Corvette that encourages close attention from enthusiasts.
