This matching numbers “bent-windshield” Pre-A 356 Coupe is a great example of Porsche’s cornerstone 356-series production models. In addition to retaining its original body/chassis, 1,500 cc engine with twin Solex 32 PBI carburetors and four-speed manual gearbox, it also wears its factory-original colors of Silver Metallic with blue upholstery, according to the accompanying Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

A German car with 25 years of single-family ownership in its history prior to 2000, when it was imported to California, this highly desirable Pre-A 356 Coupe was restored from 2002 to 2003 by Mark Miletich, and all features remain in excellent working order, including the original tube-type Telefunken radio. According to a prior owner, the Golde manual sunroof was fitted in Germany during the car’s early years. The 356 is noted by the current owner to possess tight shifting and steering characteristics, all balanced by firm brakes.

The straight body displays proper gaps, with all body numbers stamped in the correct locations, including the front bonnet hinge and rear engine lid. Interestingly, the factory-chalked number “26,” corresponding to the final two digits of the car’s chassis number, 54126, remains on the underside of the dash. The coupe is equipped with a correct set of 15-inch wheels and tires, and the recorded mileage of 75,000 kilometers is believed to be correct and original.

The car includes a partial tool kit, a roadside kit, spare tire, copy of the owner’s manual, the aforementioned Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, partial ownership records, service records and complete photo-documentation of its restoration. Very nicely presented and capable of competing at any local show, rally or touring event, it is increasingly sought-after and collectible, ideal for the true Porsche enthusiast.
