It is thought that only 10-12 copies of the Halibrand Indy Car were built during the course of 1964-65. Both cars have a two-speed transaxle and the cars are able to accept the Offenhauser or Ford four-cam engines from the period. One tub is partially assembled, as seen in the photos; the other Halibrand tub is dis-assembled. This is the only model of complete car that Halibrand ever built. Lloyd Ruby won the 1965 Phoenix Indy Car race in an Offy-powered version. Eddie Sachs was driving a Ford-powered version when he and Dave MacDonald had their unfortunate accident at the 1964 Indianapolis 500.
