Documented with less than 57,000 miles from new

245 bhp, 283.0 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine, four-speed manual transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 102.0 in.

Having made a big splash at GM’s 1953 Motorama, the Chevrolet Corvette was rushed to production by June 30th of that year. Arguably, however, the truly iconic Corvette arrived with the 1956 model. Restyled with a more flowing body, the car was given concave side coves finished in a contrasting color. Roll-up side windows provided all-weather comfort and required exterior door handles. All of the engines were V-8s, the 265-cubic inch unit from passenger cars making 210 brake horsepower in standard trim and 240 brake horsepower with dual carburetors. Development of the Corvette continued under legendary engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, under whom the 283-cubic inch V-8 was adopted in 1957, making 283 brake horsepower with optional fuel injection.

This beautiful example is one of 455 Panama Yellow 1958 Corvettes, with white coves and a white convertible top, and is one of only 190 delivered new in this configuration. It has the 240 brake horsepower V-8 with dual four-barrel carburetors mated to a four-speed manual transmission and is fully optioned, including the original Wonder Bar radio and heater. Most impressive, though, is this example’s original mileage of just under 57,000 from new, which is verified through a plethora of documentation.

Beautifully and very correctly restored, this particular example has been a mostly southwestern car that was completed around 2004. Photos and receipts of the restoration are also included in the dossier that accompanies the car for its next owner. This is truly an outstanding and eye-catching Corvette that, when combined with its well-documented low mileage and correctly restored condition, one can only imagine its limitless potential in both value and appreciation. This is undoubtedly the most fun way to enjoy open air motoring.
