According to the original Protect-O-Plate imprint, this Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible was sold new on November 4, 1965, in Michigan. It has many performance features that are normally seen on the 442 and W30 models, helping to make it a very desirable muscle car. The driver’s side head is stamped with V119051T, with the “V” prefix indicating a Hi-Compression 400 and the “T” suffix indicating a tri-power engine. Appropriately, the three 2-barrel intake and carburetors sit proudly atop the engine. All tri-power-equipped 442s were four-speeds, but the intake system was available from the dealer for those seeking more power. The engine bay has also been upgraded with blazing red inner fender wells, a finish that was not available until 1967, but it looks right at home on this Olds.

This car underwent a very comprehensive restoration and continues to present in like-new condition. It is finished in black with a white interior and is highly optioned, with power steering, power disc brakes, a power white vinyl top, a factory tachometer and gauges, bucket seats with headrests, a console, a day/night mirror, and dual exterior mirrors. Not only is the exterior and interior ready for show, but the underside chassis and suspension components are fully detailed and clean. Matching black and white 1966 Virginia license plates help to complete the look. Only 240 of the 442s produced for 1966 were tri-power convertibles, and this Oldsmobile offers all of the looks and performance of these hard-to-find trophies.
