205 bhp, 350 cu. in. OHV V-8, Doug Nash “4+3” manual transmission, single fiberglass composite monoleaf transverse-spring front suspension with unequal-length aluminum control arms and stabilizer bar, fully independent five-link rear suspension with transverse fiberglass single-leaf spring, aluminum upper/lower trailing links, strut/tie rod assembly, and four-wheel power disc brakes. Wheelbase: 96.2 in.

The year 1984 was a landmark one for America’s Sports Car. Production resumed after a yearlong hiatus at a new, state-of-the-art factory built specifically for the Corvette in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Corvette was as new as the plant that produced it, having enjoyed a full redesign for the first time in 15 years and featuring molded plastic rear bumpers and panels, advanced electronic instrumentation, and “uniframe” construction. Not surprisingly, it was Motor Trend magazine’s 1984 Car of the Year.

The 1984 coupe offered here was sold new by Taylor McCarty & Sons, Inc., of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, to Robert J. Ottaviani, of nearby Camptown, on February 25, 1984. It was well-optioned with custom two-tone paint, a glass roof panel, power locks, a six-way power seat, Delco/Bilstein shocks, an engine oil cooler, the Z51 performance handling package, the Doug Nash “4+3” manual transmission, cruise control, a Delco-GM/Bose sound system, a rear-window defogger, and grey cloth adjustable sport bucket seats. It remained with its original owner until very recently and has been driven only 1,485 actual miles at the time of cataloguing.

This “time warp” first-year C4 is accompanied by extensive documentation, such as original Pennsylvania registrations from 1985, 1986, and 1987; original sales and maintenance paperwork; the original Bose sound system, glass roof, and Corvette collectibles brochures; the original window sticker, build sheet, and pre-production inspection sheet; and even original unused wheel locks in their original packaging. It is as impressive a 1984 Corvette as exists.
