While Cadillac styling was refined from year to year, it nonetheless retained its basic essence until 1959, when unprecedented levels of flamboyance were reached. The 1958 Series 62 model line, in contrast, is increasingly appreciated today for its somewhat more subdued, elegant, and stately overall theme.

In addition to the new dual-headlamp treatment, major stylistic updates included a revised grille that was widened to include small, round cleats where the vertical and horizontal bars met. Meanwhile, the rear-wheel housings were unskirted and accented by five longer wind splits on either side. As before, the basic 365 cubic inch V-8 delivered a stout 310 bhp with a single four-barrel carburetor, and it was mated to a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.

Finished in black with a matching interior, the Cadillac Series 62 coupe offered here was acquired by the current owner in late-2007, and the prior owner was a prolific and noted connoisseur and collector of the finest American automobiles. It clearly benefits from proper care and climate-controlled storage, now showing just over 39,000 miles, which are believed to be original. The current owner also reports that following the car’s purchase, the brake system was overhauled and the speedometer and fuel gauge were repaired for correct operation. The black exterior finish is tastefully accented by all of the correct bright trim components, and the black upholstery and carpeting are offset by a white steering wheel and black-and-white dashboard, both of which also seem to be in good condition. In addition to being equipped with power brakes and power steering, this particular coupe is also fitted with an optional radio and rides on a set of whitewall tires. Reportedly well-maintained, this remarkable, low-mileage Cadillac is sure to please.
